                                  Welcome,

My name is Ms. Tonja Thompson.  I am currently a 4th and 5th grade Special Education teacher here at Spring Creek Elementary School, where I service students in the Inclusion class setting for Math and ELA.  I also provide Reading interventions for my students using the System 44 and READ 180 computerized programs.   I am the mother of 3 sons two of which are currently students at Southeastern Louisiana University, and one a 3rd grader here at Spring Creek.  I have a true passion and dedication for my sons' education just as I have for my students.  I have been teaching for 17 years with 15 of those years serving students in our districts Special Education population.  I hold a B.S. in Biology from Grambling State University, and a Master's in Education/ Special Educaiton from Grand Canyon University.  I am certified in the state of Arizona and also our home state of Louisiana.  Throughout my years as a Special Education teacher, my greatest accomplishments from year to year is seeing the progress and growth of my students.  Seeing this in my students drives my dedication to educating students year after year.  I look forward to making positive growth with my students this school year.  Our 2021-2022 school theme here at Spring Creek Elementary is "HERO".  This year I will continue to encourage my students to do their best as they will learn that they are HEROES, and in my class "LEARNING IS OUR SUPERPOWER!"
