Hello My Scholars! Welcome to ELA! My name is Yolonda Robinson (formerly Cyprian) and I look forward to taking this educational journey with you. English Language Arts is the study and practice of all aspects of the English Language. We will read, write, create and critique works from literature, poetry and even music! English is an active language so we will have some discussions on our development and understanding of the ever-changing art.
What you can continue to expect from me: I hope to encourage many hands-on and critical response activities through-out the school year. I will be prepared. I will be consistent in grading and returning papers and posting grades online. I promise to handle all issues in a timely and respectful manner. It is my belief that by us working together as a team your child will receive the academic support and encouragement they will need to have a successful year.
What I expect from my students: As with any learning process the student must take responsibility for their academic performance and behavior. Students will be responsible for their own work. Students will be graded on a variety of topics such as tests, quizzes, homework, projects, in-class participation, and activities. Please encourage your child to do their work to the best of their ability; late work will be harmful to his or her grade.
I think that learning is an ongoing process that does not start and stop when the school bells ring and I am not just teaching for the classroom but for life as well. My Class Schedule
I am a floating teacher and do not have a stationary classroom. Depending on the day and time, I can be located in one of several classes. This means that your child has class with me in another teacher/subject classroom. Because of this, I ask that your child come to school each day with a fully charged Chromebook.
