Weekly Writing Assignments --  May 13-22

**Last weekly Writing of the Year!**

First Grade

This will be our last weekly writing of the school year! I have loved hearing and seeing  your shared stories through your words and illustrations! I want you to be extra creative with our last story J This story will be a narrative again, much like the time we wrote about if our pets could talk to us. That means you are telling me a story. We are going to title this one:

The Day the Martians Landed on Earth!

Remember, try not to end your story quickly. Think through your story and all of the actions you would take if one day you woke up and found out that martians have landed on our planet, Earth! AHHHH!!!   Would it be cool?! Would you be scared, nervous, excited, curious, etc.?Would you become friends because they are friendly or enemies because they are evil? Would you help him or her? Why? How would you do that, if so?

Be sure to use capital letters, end marks, and proofread your work. Also, remember to try and incorporate adjectives to make your writing more descriptive! Draw a picture to show what's going on too.

Remember the Hamburger Structure when putting the parts of your paragraph together!

Top Bun- Topic sentence tells what the paragraph will be about

Meat(middle) -Tells all the juicy details and gives examples ( Include at least 3 details)

Bottom Bun- The conclusion tells the main idea again(Brings closure)

Include your important story elements! You can create a story map to help you brainstorm! Example below:

*Characters(people or animals)

*Setting(Where or when things are happening)

*Problem

*Reaction(How the characters respond to the problem)

*Resolution (How the problem was solved)

When finished, you can email them to me, or you can share them during our last zoom meeting! Have fun with this writing! I can’t wait to hear what you wrote!
