I have been teaching in the Tangipahoa Parish School System since 2012. I taught 3rd grade ELA at D.C. Reeves for six years, 5th and 6th grade Math and ELA at Woodland Park Magnet School for one year, and was a 6th grade ELA teacher at Martha Vinyard Elementary School for three years. I love teaching in the same community where I live and feel a great sense of pride in being a resident and educator in Tangipahoa Parish. Prior to obtaining a Master's Degree from Southeastern University and embarking on my teaching career, I was a Social Service Worker in Rockford, IL serving the children and families involved with the Department of Children and Family Services.

I am married to the best joke teller in the world! Together we share a blended family of two sons and a daughter. When I am not at school, studying, grading papers, or chasing my daughter, I am usually creating something. Although I love creating art, that is not my only outlet. I love refinishing old furniture, crocheting, working in my yard, running, reading, spending quality time with family and friends, and traveling. If I could travel any place in the world Ireland, New Zealand, Hawaii, Alaska, and a full round trip tour of all United States National Parks would be my top picks.

My background in social services has certainly driven my teaching philosophy. My goal is to nurture the whole child, rather than focusing only on academic growth and achievement. Although I deeply enjoy teaching ELA and getting to share my love of literature with my students, it is the development of meaningful relationships that I cherish most of all!
