Lesson 19

Famished: If you are famished, you are very hungry.

Modify: To modify something means to change it a little.

Unfortunate: If you are unfortunate, you have bad luck.

Contrast: When you contrast things, you tell how they are different.

Meander: If you meander, you walk along slowly without a special place to go.

Tidy: To tidy a place means to make it neat.


   Lesson 17

Fantasy:
something you think of or daydream about that couldn’t really happen.

Jolly: being cheerful and always in a good mood

Versatile: Something that is versatile can be changed easily so that it can be used in different ways.

Agreed: If two people agreed, they felt the same way or thought the same thing.

Contribute: When people contribute, they each give a part to something everyone is working on together.
Spontaneously: When you do something spontaneously, you did it right at that moment without planning it.


  Lesson 16

Load: When you load things, you put them into something.

Bound: When you are going somewhere, you are bound for that place.

Steep: When something is steep, it is hard to climb because of the way it goes up.

Drooped: If something is drooped, it bent down or hung down because it was weak.

Joyous: When you feel joyous, you feel very happy.

Thrill: When you do something so exciting that it makes you a little tingly, you get a thrill.


   Lesson 14
Blustery: When the weather outside is blustery, it is very windy.

Slumbering: If you are slumbering, you are sleeping.

Creeps: When something creeps, it moves very slowlyalong the ground.

Nestle: When you nestle, you snuggle up next to someone or something.

Delight: If you feel delight, you are very happy or pleased with something.

Arrive: If you arrive somewhere, you have just come to that place.

   Lesson 13

Fading: When something is fading, it is becoming lighter and harder to see.

Perhaps: If you say perhaps something will happen, maybe it will and maybe it won’t happen.

Prefer: If you prefer something, you like it more than another thing.

Warn: If you warn someone, you let the person know that something dangerous might happen.

Whirl: When things whirl, they spin around in circles.

Property: Something that belongs to you is called your property.

   Lesson 11

Anxious: If you feel anxious, you feel nervous or afraid that something is going to happen.

Huddle: A huddle is a group of people or animals that are close together in a circle.

Moans: When someone moans, they are sad or mad, and they make a long, low sound.

Productive: When you are productive, you are making or doing something useful.

Idle: A person or thing that is idle is not doing anything.

Scrumptious: Something scrumptious tastes very, very good.

   Lesson 10

Squabble: If you squabble with someone, you argue about something that is not very important.

Mischief: If you get into mischief, you cause trouble by playing tricks on people.

Uproar: An uproar  is a lot of noise and fussing made by someone who is upset about something.

Tend: When you tend something, you take care of it.

Soggy: Something that is soggy is so wet that it’s squishy.

Wobble: When things wobble, they move from side to side in an unsteady way.

   Lesson 8

Active: If you are active, you are doing something in a busy way.

Gigantic: Something that is gigantic is very, very big.

Voyage: If you go on a voyage, you go on a trip to a place far away.

Gasped: When you gasp, you take a short, quick breath because you are surprised.

Glum: Someone who feels glum is sad and quiet.

Whimper: When someone whimpers, they make a quiet, crying sound.

   Lesson 7

Sly: Someone who is sly is tricky and sneaky.

Apparel: Someone’s apparel is the clothes they wear.

Proceed: When you proceed, you go ahead with what you are doing.

Imaginary: Something that is imaginary is make-believe.

Announced: When you announce something, you tell people things you want them all to know.

Precisely: If you do something precisely, you do it exactly as it should be done.

   Lesson 5

Appetite: You have an appetite when you are hungry.

Savor: You savor something that you really enjoy and want to last a long time.

Urgency: If you do something with urgency, you need to do it right away.

Lonely: When you are lonely, you are sad because you feel like you are all by yourself.

Remind: When you remind someone of something, you make them remember it.

Preoccupied: When you are preoccupied, you are always thinking about something else.

   Lesson 4

Feast: A feast is a big meal with lots of different kinds of foods.

Gusto: When you do something with gusto, you do it with energy and excitement.

Prepare: When you prepare for something, you get ready to do it.

Lonely: When you are lonely, you are sad because you feel like you are all by yourself.

Remind: When you remind someone of something, you make them remember it.

Preoccupied: When you are preoccupied, you are always thinking about something else.

   Lesson 2

Reverse: If you do something in reverse, you do it in the opposite way, or backwards.

Ability: If you can do something, you have the ability to do it.

Confident: If you are confident about something, you feel very sure about it.

Encourage: When you encourage someone, you help that person feel good about trying something.

Talent: If you are very good at doing something, you have a talent for it.

Complained: If you complained about something, you told how it makes you unhappy.

   Lesson 1

Differ: when things differ from one another, they are not the same.

Stalking: When an animal is stalking another animal, it sneaks up on it to try to catch it.

Mellow: When you are mellow, you feel gentle and relaxed.

Automatic: Something that is automatic runs by itself.

Perfectly: If you do something perfectly, you do it just the right way.

Resemblance: People or things that have a resemblance look alike or are alike in some way.
